New member here so please be gentle! I've been doing a fair amount of research on a machine to use to remove the laitance from 70m2 of calcium suplhate screed. I would also like to use the machine to give the self level a quick going over before laying LVT (glue down). Would the marks from a diamond disc (120) be visible through LVT, so would therefore need 120 on a sanding pad to remove? Or would the floor finish be acceptable to lay straight onto? I'm being recommended a couple of machines for hire, a dedicated sander, which takes diamonds on a drive plate and ca not take sanding discs, or the other option looks to be a Wirbel / 701 type machine which appears to be more of a sander for removing smaller amounts of material. I just don't want to get the incorrect machine and then need both! I can't seem to find any images of ground floors using diamonds which haven't been polished after. I hope my ramblings make sense! Defo need a sand pad instead diamond grinding finished screeds. I bought the extra weight to go with mine and gone with a branded 2 motor dust extractor vac.
Cheers for the response Rugmunching, went with the kit...a Wirbel turned up! Works absolutely great, not the fastest over some old concrete, but it's dealt with everything we've thrown at it this week! Didn't go for the weight, but wish I had, grab that soon i think!
Good bit of kit hey, Don't want it to spin to fast and create waves in your subfloor but ive often thought it could do with the extra speed when it comes to the grinding laitance. Stick a bag of powder on it in the meantime
