Hi, I have a large extension which was built 7 years ago. The builder used liquid screed for the first time which was fine, but they never sanded it. The two bathrooms in the extension tiled floors have both popped. When I lift the tiles, the floor is smooth. I ammume the adhesive didn't take. It also had electric UFH. What's the best thing for me to do, the bathrooms are about 4sq m each. Do I need to get them grinded before re-laying? Thanks Mike
I don't really know much about tile adhesive, but i'd probably check the preparation instructions on the adhesive packaging first, then if you're still not sure, contact the adhesive manufacturer, they'll usually have a technical department who will be able to advise you on the best way of doing it
Grind down make sure any laitence is removed, prime the concrete with a suitable primer then I would advise a decoupling mat such as schluter ditra to install on, the natural movement and vibrations in the house can cause cracking in adhesive and grouts over time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Also if it’s a anhydrate liquid screed, water gets under the tiles and weakens the bond. It’s not good in wet areas. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
