Screeder made the mistake of underestimating the screed for 34m2 extension and barrowed in one or two loads of sharp sand attempting to mix it. This lead to a failed patch 800x600 and up to 60mm deep where the 'mixing' occurred (down to UFH pipes affixed to the floating celotex) which broke and was scraped back a week later plus it put some pot holes in an area nearby. Now screed patching would break out on shrinkage even if it were primed with pva mix in my opinion so have spoken to Ardex who suggest A38MIX and to use A100 to first create a slurry mix coat for the edges before filling with A38MIX. Anyone got experience of this product or had to repair anything similar? Thanks
Thanks JD, yes that is the intention, I was just asking if anyone had used these products or attempted a similar repair and could share their experience
I have done similar in my own house. I laid 50mm concrete screed, and was slightly short on product. About 1sq m by 50mm deep. By chance I had some A38 left over from a site, and filled it in a few days later. I just splashed a bit of primer on the existing screed and bonded up to it. It was right in the front door, and well trafficked, but was absolutely fine.
I’ve done similar but over a much bigger area. Instead of priming we had to consolidate the weak screed first with PSRS I think, then fill with the A38 mix which I was really impressed with. Good product, you should be alright if you follow what they say. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Two great replies right there. Thanks. Neil what primer was that? (I wrote A100 additive but meant to put E100 additive to make the slurry) it's a 5ltr jobbie so be plenty left over I'd expect, aids elasticity, strength and works as a grout slurry to aid the adhesion and allows it to get down to 15mm thickness (okay I just read what the data sheet said) Says you get up to an hours workability.
Tbh I will have just used whatever I had on the van. Probably just a cheap acrylic based primer, diluted. I`m not really a stickler for perfect ratios and must use products from the same supplier type of guy. I often mix primers, screeds and almost never use a screed and then adhesive from the same supplier.
