In our house we seem to have a lot of sound travel between floors, especially from upstairs when talking or kids jumping. Have replaced the old chipboard with plywood on the upstairs room, and Rockwool soundslabs underneath. However looking for something to go on top before laminate is put on.

Have been recommended rubber sheets such as soundlay, and also sandboards like SBX soundboards. Really looking for some help as could be an expensive mistake if I get the wrong stuff!

    Thanks

If you have the height acoustilay panels are the best but not cheap. Or you can use regupol or softlay then a acoustic laminate underlay. We just used softlay and QA acoustic underlay for some flats and it worked a treat. Will only raise the floor by 6mm too

Thanks, can afford the height as only bedrooms. Do you think acousitlay panels are better than the SBX sand based boards?

I’m not familiar with the sound boards. Depends on the dB rating and what you can install over the top of them
