after using BOSTIK cempolay (unfortunately not their "Ultra" or the "latex") self levelling compound: I applied 3 coats of Ronseal diamondhard garage floor paint. - It started peeling almost immediately. I've scraped up the easy bits (approx 1/4 of the floor) with the intention to use a sealer and repaint. should i use a dustproofer/hardener/sealer.. even if I cannot repaint it, it needs to be sealed before laying a rubber floor right? any ideas/ product recommendations greatly received
The concrete beneath the levelling compound needs to be dry and have a working dpm if your planning on installing a rubber floor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cempolay is not a great smoothing compound. If the subfloor is dry you could remove the old paint and try using a primer before painting again Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Apparently the subfloor does get wet along one edge. Rain flows down the drive and hits the garage wall,.. so it's not creeping up from below.
No idea how old (nothing on the planning portal), There is only damp around one side wall - a recently blocked up garage door, leading me to believe that there is a DPM underneath but no DPC on the new wall. Thank you all for your patience and help, I am at a loss for what to do atm,.
Apparantely the "Bostik Cempolay Ultra Strong " self levelling compound is water resistant and overpaintable. Maybe a layer of it on top of my semi-painted, powdery layer? bit of an expensive solution though.
no sign of a DPM. lol. I could try sprinkling on extra water to the powdery parts,. perhaps there are areas where we had inconsistent mixes. unless anyone has any better ideas: I've decided to pour the ultra strong version tomorrow , once i'm happy all the flaky paint is up and i've wetted and primed the floor.
