im putting LVT in a 1970s open plan ground floor house, its approx 50 m2 and the current floor makup is 18mm chipboard on 4x2 joists sitting on brick piers approx 1.6 metre spans. the subfloor is +/- 10 mm and rather springy, Ive put Karndean LVT in the upstairs bathroom by putting 12 mm ply on the 18 mm chipboard an laying on that and its rock solid. im thinking 12 mm ply them leveling compound to take out the bumps. Any advice would be welcome recieved thanks Dan
Sounds like you got it sussed, 9mm would probably be enough if you floating a screed over it but 12mm will be nice and solid. Just make sure your joists are solid as can be, ply board screwed nice and secure then a nice coat of Mapei renovation will see you right. Not forgetting your primers.
