Hi there I’m a diy’er looking to lay some Quick Step Vinyl Flooring onto a concrete downstairs floor. the floor is called livyn balance click and it’s flexible plank type. Question is around the underlay, I won’t be using underfloor heating as the lounge is fairly modest size approx 4x4mtrs , the room is well heated with rads , etc having said that I want the floor to feel as warm and inviting as it can be, seems to me that a 2mm LVT underlay ( 3rd party), is preferable to a 1mm ( genuine Quick Step product), but QS will only stand by their own underlay as you would expect. Leaves me exposed from a warranty perspective but can’t help thinking 2mm on a bare concrete floor is better than 2 mm. Also do the 2mm type includes a DPM is this actually needed it recommended? The floor will already have DPM beneath the screed anyway. Thoughts please on 1mm v 2mm and I am fretting about nothing?!
Lvt clic will move and creep on underlay so you should really use quicksteps own. The floor needs to be dry below 75%rh or it will buckle the clic. Have you taken a moisture reading? Make sure you have no sunlight in the room and no heat fluctuations or it will expand and shrink causing issues. You would be better off sticking it down but your subfloor has to be perfect to do that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
