We did a school reception In forbo Flotex a few years ago. Nice to join and fit but it got hammered and they struggled to clean it. It was changed within 2 years for a forbo vinyl floor Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's interesting as Flotex is known for its durability and cleanability. I wonder if it was down to lack of knowledge on the correct cleaning & maintenance routine.
We're trying hard to stamp this perception out and slowly but surely getting there! Design has come a long way and our plank format is extremely successful! We've recently done some great designer collections. It'd be great if we could change your mind!!
I've been involved in helping out on a large project for a interior designer that was covering near 200m2 in the forbo flotex wood design and it looked very nice when it was first down but already it's starting to show quite a faded path line. I did have a lot of the samples come through but I'll be honest it's not something I chose to push with my larger projects
Possibly but I know the company that cleans the school and they are usually pretty good. Some flooring manufacturers actually recommend them and that’s how we get our work. Is there a special machine to clean it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There are particular methods, yes. You can use 3 in 1 machine, spray extraction or contra-rotating machine. It should be vaccuumed daily using an upright vaccuum with a rotating brush, not the Henry type machine. Our official cleaning partner is Wrennalls - they are experts in cleaning Flotex. The less detergent the better with Flotex. The detergent needs to be fully rinsed out otherwise it becomes sticky and attracts dirt, sometimes just warm water is enough. We have videos and always like to welcome customers to our site in Ripley, Derbyshire where we can give cleaning demos and factory tours. To be honest I'm shocked to hear the end user didn't find it easy to clean as we sell largely on cleanability, recently into places like Strathclyde University (3000m2) and a council in the south east, which is a huge project - both used Flotex planks and feedback has been brilliant. We do have a technical team who spend time with customers to fix issues and educate best practice.
That's a shame, have they contacted our technical team? Our tech team visit sites regularly to fix issues and complaints. If there is a product issue, we would replace the material. There are lots of benefits to Flotex - slip resistance, acoustics, cleanability, tile and plank formats as well as complete custom design options. It's also extremely durable and approved by Allergy UK so good for people with asthma or other allergies. Our planks range is doing very well at the moment. It'd be great to change your mind on pushing it for larger projects! You should check out some of the case studies on our website! Used Flotex tiles in our high street showroom as it was the funkiest, brightest, and most dynamic and colourful product we could find. Looks fantastic.
I was thinking the same thing, i still think of it as that horrible green or brown stuff you used to fit in old peoples kitchens
Used flotex for a project at Warwick university for the student accomodation. It joins up nicely but not sure how it will fair with constant traffic. Have noticed a lot of new quirky designs and patterns coming from flotex lately and they definitely are trying to shrug the oap image
