Hi All, First post and wondering if anyone can help with a conundrum that I have come across while lifting my carpet to make the floor ready for fitting laminate flooring. We have after a number of years decided to fit laminate flooring in our living/dining room, but after firstly removing an old concrete hearth I have now found a cracked/broken concrete screws/slab in front of my patio doors. The plywood floor is 20mm thick and has been laid across the whole room. I can see a way to fix a sheet of ply to where the hearth has been, however the concrete runs across the full width of the patio doors, and up to the wooden trim. It is cracked/broken and un-even but is same level as the plywood floor albeit some low/high points in the concrete. Can I just break this concrete up to a depth to allow a floating framework to be inserted and plywood to be laid to be same level as existing floor or is it best to just take it down a few mm to where I can fit levelling compound and then damp proof membrane and glue the floor to it? Sorry for long explanation but new to this. Pictures can be uploaded if it will help in providing a visual look at my challenge.
