Scuff marks on old wood flooring

Hello

I was wondering if anyone on here is able to look at these scuff marks on my old wooden flooring. It don't know whether it's build up on the wood (I have tried cleaning it with vinegar and water and nothing happened) or whether the actual finish is scuffed.

What's the best solution to deal with it? It looks naff when the light catches it.

I’d say you need to sand it off then revarish the lot.

 

The buff marks, I presume you are talking about?
Have you used a polish on the floor?
Really needs sanding back as it looks like the seal that's on it is peeling in places, probably due to contamination under it or poor prep work.
What area are you in? perhaps somebody on here could come over and give you advice...

 

Thanks you all for all the replies. I haven't tried anything on it yet. It's a really old house and all the wooden floors are full of scuffs and scratches, but I did some plasterboarding in the room and I think the dust has gone in to every crack and crevice and illuminated the floor of all the imperfections. I was worried I caused them doing the work - but they've appeared in places in the room I wasn't actually working but that got dusty.

mjfl - are you saying to try polish on the buff marks? I'm not going to be in a position anytime soon to sand and re do the floor properly, which seems the be the consensus from the advice above, just wondering if there's anything I can do to make them less obvious
