hello We are having an extension done and the floor is raised, we insulating with 100mm celotex and having wet ufh with spreader plates. The final floor finish is Polyflor LVT. The builder was going to put down chipboard for the LVT to go on but I said it should be floor grade ply as a minimum. (18mm) My question is where can I buy this from and does it need to be flooring grade or can I use a hardwood ply from one of the builders merchants? If so what should I be looking for? Many thanks Sean
There's only two flooring grade plywoods Hanson SP101 or FG1 Your floorlayer or flooring retailer should be able to supply you with one of them Good luck if you go with ply from a builders merchant
Probably better to go with your builder installing chipboard. It will be what he is used to. Then, your flooring installer can overlay 6mm ply. If your builder fits 18mm ply, its unlikely it will be good enough to fit a floor directly to, without additional prep anyway
The floor height can’t be any more than 24mm as we are having low floor threashold for the exterior sliding doors FG ply seems pricey, what is the next best option? Two lots of different thickness ply ?
