Hello All, Flooring is ordered (Kandean VG)...fitter is ready...got a quick question from the UFH guy that's just been round. I'm going wet, with pipes into 25mm poly insulation slabs with spreader plates fitted, with loads of insulation underneath. The question was what floor am I having abouve the UFH? I said ...18mm T&G seam glued and nailed on joists, with another 6mm of cross FG1 ply ontop with latex and the 3mm LVT. He said.. is that going to be OK as far as TOG values are concerned? I said...what? He said... Carpets need to be below 2.5 TOG for the UFH to work and Wooden floors need to be below 1.5 TOG I said....what? Anyway, I'm thinking that obviously you don't want to insulate the heating with an eqivalemt of Celotex in a carpet thats nice n cosy...especially as the carpet would be sitting on 20mm of Chip board etc and underlay. But surely 24mm (total) of PLY, plus adhesive, plus 3mm Karndean is normal and OK? Anyone know?
