Hi Bruce here from Newman Flooring.ive got a customer who has purchased there own real wood from b and q. solid oak and there pretty much useless on providing spec for there product. all I'm really in need of is peoples views an guidance on how many linear or m2 i.should for before having a break, my usual with solid.real wood would be to finish at every door with a solid bar. My customer is being awkard an wants it seamless but I'm reluctant due to change in climate and stress of expansion, finding it hard to reference any British standards to show the customer as a reference. any help would be appreciated thanks in advance Bruce
The expansion needed is calculated using the width of the plank. Wider boards will expand more and will need a larger expansion gap. I would personally leave expansion in all doorways as they are the weak spots. If they want it flowing they need to have engineered. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
exactly my thoughts, do you know of anywhere official online that would have this in writing? I'm searching British standard but Google is shocking nowadays
Problem is if you buy your sold wood flooring from b and q they will state it’s fine to float it on a underlay. Now we all know that’s a very very bad idea! You may find a few wood flooring suppliers online that have guidelines on their websites. If you can find a few of them that state the same thing you could forward it to your customer.
