Is too much flooring possible?

This may be a dumb question, but is it possible to have too many layers or levels of flooring? I am planning to put ceramic tile (with 1/4" hardi board)
on top of the existing floor. Current floor is linoleum with a thin layer of underlay (thin plywood) below. Below that, there is another layer of linoleum.
This too has an underlayment..it appears to be the older soft plywood or particle board like , maybe 1/4"
Below that...there is 2 " of solid wood.

The house is 100 years old and has the old "planks" laid above the floor joist. On top of the planks is 1" of hardwood flooring I believe..
I have read all the pros and cons about laying hardiboard on top of the linoleum and am ok with doing it. I just was not prepared to find (2) 1" layers
of solid wood below the linoleum..

The joists are full size trees. The spacing ranges from 16" on center to 22" on center but the joists are a solid 8-10" in diameter.
The are for tile is a 15x 15 kitchen

Thoughts? Ideas, suggestions, concerns, etc??

Hardie board. Backer Board. Cement fiber board. I want put down the sheets and lay the ceramic tile on...

 

That’s why then. Not ceramics on here.

But I’d be getting back to your base and uplift the lot.
