I hope one of you experienced flooring layers will be willing to give me some advice. I have an old house with an asphalt layer covering the floor. This is flat and smooth and has the old type of underlay on it at present. I am going to install new foam underlay and carpet and was wondering if the Asphalt floor will react to the foam underlay and so would it need a lining paper layer between the two. Also as stapling the underlay down is not an option does it need fixing in place or will it be ok ?
Thanks guys but does it need paper to go between the foam underlay and the asphalt or does thew asphalt not react with the foam underlay ?
There’s no harm in using a lining paper but you will have to leave space to fix the underlay or fix the paper in the same areas as the underlay. I’ve never seen a pu underlay react with a asphalt floor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
