    Hi,
I wondered if someone can help. I’m looking at laying either Jarndean Korlok click Flooring or Looselay onto a new floor ( Screed with wet underfloor heating). Karndean have advised that I need to apply a self levelling compound to the whole floor to insulate the Flooring from the ufh. My local supplier says that’s not required. Any advice very greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Hire a professional, this is a very highly skilled trade that takes around 5-7 years to master, despite what you are told by those who have never laid floors, it is not a DIY job that anyone can do.
The cost of ripping it all out and paying someone from scratch is not worth the risk.

Thanks, but I’m not doing it myself. Karndean say it needs a minimum 3mm self levelling compound and my local approved installer says it’s not necessary.

I wouldn’t recommend a loose laid product on UFH full stop Needs the be a fully stuck down product !

Do you know what type of screed the UFH is encapsulated in ?
And how deep it is ? How flat it is ?

Thanks. It’ll be pretty flat with latex feathering to make it very good. I’ll find out about the type of screed and How deep it is and get back......

Really? They are on Karndeans website and offer installation with sales. I’m just trying to work out if I need the latex for insulation to protect the vinyl or whether I can get away with laying the tiles directly on the floor.

The tiles need to be 14mm away from the ufh pipes and the ufh needs to be isolated so the floor temperature doesn’t exceed 27•C

Thanks, is there any other options to isolate it without doing the 3mm latex covering? I’m trying to see if I can avoid the cost of a full latexing as it’s 70sq.m

Or would a floor thermostat set at 27 or lower protect the floor while being warm enough to heat the room? All the underfloor guy can tell me is the water in the pipes is about 40 something degrees, he doesn’t know how hot the floor gets!

i will call it now yopur floor isnt likely to be flat enough for lvt without a coat of screed, im with spacey id only do a stuck down install over ufh

go cheap on the prep and id expect it to go wrong, ALL lvt failures are down to insuffirent prep before install

I think I’m heading towards a stuck down one, or trying to think what I could have instead of LVT that’s good for ufh and a kitchen area and doesn’t need Flat floor. I thought tiles, but they’ll be cold in the ingested hall!
