    Hi Guys,
Got 80sm of Altro wood fx to do in upstairs corridors in care home with ufh. The sub floor is T&G chipboard. Was going to 6mm ply and feather after allowing to acclimatise and fit vinyl with HT. After reading a few posts was swaying to putting a flexi over ply as well as some fitters not to confident about feather with ufh. First time we have done a job with sheet vinyl and ufh. Was also going to try and get them to shut down ufh (if possible) while carrying out work. What s your thoughts fellas?

Hi, need to be very careful as boards can be 18mm, shutdown prior install, maybe able to isolate zones or a plumber on manifold, I assume upstairs are bedrooms

If remove carpet becareful that you don't increase the gap under the doors as probably fire doors 8mm max but could be less.

    Thanks alban

Dont turn UFH off. Just lower its temperature so that the subfloor temp is around 18-20c Make sure you use a plywood like SP101 as its moisture content is much lower than other plywoods.

Could be a problem shutting it down completely with it being a care home.

They can sometimes isolate specific areas. If they are reluctant explain the possible outcomes that could arrive and that should help.

I often leave UFH low when I fit LVT especially if it's the only source of heat or if UFH is going to be on constsantly or a lot As for feather Try uzin 888 or 888s it's not weak clay like ardex feather

Hi, I only use Balls adhesive so I am not sure about fitting at reduced temperature,
But as said the corridor and communal areas will probably be on a different circuit to the habitatal rooms. They may have a building manager or a building file to consult.

Thanks for replying fellas. Think I will go with shutting system down if possible or turn it down to 15 degrees. Sp101 plywood and feather with uzin 888s. Prime with P131 and then F ball 48 plus or 49 as this ufh system and subfloor have been installed for couple of years now so should be no shrinkage with subfloor. Then cross my fingers. Thanks

If your going to prime Forget P131

    Uzin 360 or Ardex P51

Normaly use Uzin 360 for most priming and have great confidence with it. Was F ball who advised P131.

Just reading spec on 360 and no mention of use on plywood just information for mineral floors.
