Hello All! Had Pergo Max installed over a 'wavey' sub floor - that doesn't meet Pergo's stated flatness requirements - in several areas. Out of level by approximately 1/4 inch - bit more and bit less - in various places. I'm dealing with a big box store to get this resolved. They admit that the floor shouldn't have been installed at all. Also state that the floor couldn't be leveled for a couple of reasons. Also state that they are comfortable in saying that the floor will not give me a problem. Will be offering me the options of either extending their installation guarantee for some ? years as 'compensation' or giving me some $$$'s as 'compensation'. Would appreciate any and all comments regarding the likelihood that the floor will not be a future problem. With my regards, Andy
If your subfloor isn't up to standard Your going to have problem simple really ! But you already know this or you wouldn't asked
It's not a good start. If it's a top lock system it will certainly have problems. Some laminates will survive on a bad subfloor, depends how much you walk on it! Not ideal really. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks Spacey and Merit. Yep, I know it's a potential problem but I don't know if it will certainly fail or if there is a reasonable chance it will survive light to moderate traffic for several years. Yes, this is a very subjective question. My two options are to accept some compensation (how much?) and keep it or to have it yanked out and replaced with carpet. Is it worth the gamble to keep it - I don't know -
How long can you live with a "wonky" floor for. Guess it depends on what compensation is offered and weigh it out from that
My thanks to all who commented. In consideration of the six month of delays they put me through, and the fact that their two inspectors were dishonest in their reviews, I threatened to sue in small claims court and also ask for damages. A major consideration was that an area manager of theirs finally confessed to me that the floor Obviously should not have been installed. However, even after telling me this he would not put it into writing. They knew I had them by the b***s and fully reimbursed my payment. So, I have the flooring and my money. We'll see how long the floor holds up. Regards
