Hi all, after 16yrs prepping and laying all kinds of floors I came across some dubious advice today and wondered if anyone else actually used 22dp staples on 9mm Malaysian ply one floorboards for vinyl tiles? In this case it's karndean opus.
I usually screw 9mmply down with screw-tite screws to ensure they countersink.

I would only use staples on chipboard myself. Divergent ones.
9mm ply I use 22mm ring nails myself

I use screw tite screws as well..... I found staples just do not hold as well and had joints showing in a matter of months... I also screw 5.5mm ply. I buy my screw tites by the 10000 so I hope your getting a good price

Staples squeak like crazy screw down or Ringshall.

It's moisture that will make your joints show, not staples.

Problem I had on a few jobs using staples was ply squeaking so changed to ring shanks.
