was wondering if anyone can help I'm not self employed I work for company . Recently been plaCed on larger job which means more money for time being ... But does that mean I'm now to pay my company's apprentice wage or should they still be paying his wage and if I wanted I give him something extra for his help .
The Company should be paying you for training their workforce. I make it very clear when asked I am not training anyone until wages catch up with inflation, the only thing that will bring that about is a shortage of labour. The lad can Labour, fetch, carry, sweep up but as for training, the teacher at college taking credit will be on £40k a year plus a whopping retire at 55 pension and they will be taking all the credit for what you teach them. Train your own lads, let the college train the apprentices, I get paid to lay floors and usually at the same rate I got 20 tears ago or even less.
