Hello lads i have had a website for a few moths now but need to get it up the ranks on google to get some business in. How do you do this ? Any tips will be greatly appreciated. CHEERS.
There are companies that do it for you but also a lot of scams best bet would be to see someone local that does this it will cost but you should get more work but there are only a certain number of places per page and to get high up on the first page will cost thousands a year to be up with the big boys have you signed up with google places that works well for me
From what people have told me who do it when i was trying to set up an on-line business, you Either go through google themselves or through an agent type person. Be prepared to pay a bit though. There is the cost to boost you up the ranks but additional cost of x-amount times the amount of hits you get. He called it pence per click. So every time someone goes on looking it charges you per click. I think you would belooking at £200 a month but some firms pay mega money but they control the top of the lists and that must pay for itself over and over.
My brothers mate has done my website and seo for one off cost, id ask mates who have websites who done theres and see if they give you good feed back.
Google has changed how it ranks websites. It used to work on links. So in other words- if you was to put a link to your website on this forum, this forum being so highly rated would drag your website up in the google rankings also. Google would look at the forum and say " well if they promote a website then it must be good" What google started doing was then down ranking the forum as google started to look at it like this - " the forum is only trying to promote small sites, so we will penalize the forum for promoting a small site with low traffic! " (after all google wants to promote good websites full of info, forums etc dont like you posting links hence many forums wont let you) So whats google want from your website now??? Well google now likes content. It likes content that changes. What you need to do is keep adding content to your website. Google dont like deleted content tho. It likes MORE info. After all, why would google promote a site that has old information on it that does not get updated? To google its a dead website! However, you can cheat, you can pay a seo company to change a few things around and hammer google ad words. This works but you pay for it ! Its good for new websites to get them listed and to start getting people on the site but in reality its only good for forums where people are always adding new info. Once you decide to leave adwords your website will be dead again unless you have content that always changes. Hope that helps !
A little tip. Get on twitter and get yourself a twitter feed for your site. Every time you post on twitter you are effectively updating the website (in googles eyes anyway)
Link either your Picasa or instagram account to your website, I'm getting a Picasa account and changing my picture page to a Picasa web album, when you update your Picasa account it will sync on your website, a quick easy way to keep updating your pictures
SEO is a long process, they are a few firms, one of the best i would recommend would be SEO works but they are very good.

My SEO I do through Social Media (Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn etc etc) I have tried all different modes of advertising through the years Yell Sponsored Listing and Google ads. As mentioned above there are a lot of companies that will get you up the ranks with link farming, which I used a company for a few years but then realised I was being thrown up in the most bizaare searches on Google/Bing etc. My web designer/SEO company I have now been using for 6 years they do 2 blogs a month for the areas that I want to work in, as they are rich with content they have the desired affect that I want, work in my area!!! The best advertising that had produced the most leads is still Sign Writing all my 3 vans. I get people taking pictures of the vans and then ringing me that evening saying we saw your van here or there.
