hi I use the janser pads but as I'm getting older the knees are hurting a lot at the end if the day. so I tried the snickers pads with the beads in took them back to screwfix in a week as the beads had disappeared. Didn't till them I was doing 15 hr days but still they should last longer they were great for the first day so before I blow a load of money on other pads what do you lot think the best either for trousers or wrap on pads. Anyone tried the xtr snickers pads or the medical ones?
I use XTR pads and swear by them Never tried The Aplros but I hear raving reviews from the strap on crew
Thanks so they better then the standard foam pads like the yellow and black ones. I really need decent ones for trousers as I tend to be lazy with the strap on ones only put them on when the knees are hurting.
Get the redbacks you wont regret it, they are the best pads fullstop, the alpros i borrowed off a mate and couldnt get on with them too bulky and make you look like a transformer/wrestler, the redbacks last an age and spread your body weight across the whole pad, they do take a few days to get used to but your golden once broken in.
The alpro's win hands down for me. They took me a few days to get used to them but i wouldnt be without them now. Ive been wearing shorts mostly the past few months and even the strap behind the knee doesnt bother me, they really are comfortable. Had to wear trousers on a site last week and ended up using 2 hellyhansen pads in each knee and just after one day my knees started to feel a bit battered. Straight back to the alpros the next day and felt so much better. Will be trying the redbacks for my trousers though soon once the 'trouser season' comes back in
Alpros for me. Redbacks are too heavy for me personally. I still use the beanbag pads for my carpet fitting trousers though
Hate the Redbacks. I had them on for a job when on my knees all day and they hurt. They dig in your knee caps after a while.
used the redbacks for a day before kept pulling my trousers down . not nice for others working with me think I'll try the xtr pads for trousers with the allpros do they stop you twisting on floor?
The alpros are really good, but do take some getting used to. I just got 4 more sets of the Proknees in for the other lads that work with me. The best i`ve used by miles
I have had a look at them they look good. where do you get them from. They only seem to be avalible in America
Yes mate, thats the downside, they have be brought over. Easy enough though, they will ship them to you.
That's good. suppose you looking at vat on top as well. so about 200ish shipped? Don't mind paying out as i seemed doomed to be crawling round for eternity bit do they hold up well. or do they need replacing often
Yep mate, they work out about 200 a pair, shipped, duty paid. They are built to last, and every part can be replaced, so when there worn, they can be re-built.
I've always had problems finding knee pads which fit and dont slip nor feel uncomfortable on my kneecaps. my legs must be thin because they are always slipping round my ankles someone needs to invent some sort of strap mechanism which keeps them still!
i,ve just started using the german alpro medical knee protectors, they take the weight on the leg bone rather than the knee and have stopped all pain in my knee,They are a problem to use with a kicker,so i keep one on my bad knee and kick with the good one, like i said fiddly to use but im pain free
