Hello. I've bought 8 packs of RL05 Karndean flooring. The subfloor is acoustic chipboard overlaid with 6mm plywood and levelled with compound. I'm looking for a fitter to fit this flooring. The overall square meterage is about 24 sqm. The room is about 4m x 6m but its not quite square. The (MDF) skirting boards are in place so the fitter needs to mulit-cut a slot to tuck the flooring under. Either the fitter can tell me what primer and adhesive to have ready onsite or the fitter can include to supply. I would be looking to get the floor fitted in a week or so. Most fitters, generally, like to prepare there own floors. Have you prepared this yourself ? Or has someone done it for you ? Karndean can be cut neatly, up to the skirting. No need to undercut.
Thats fine for fitters to prepare the floor. Right now there is the chipboard floor in place and the plywood is onsite ready. I'm a price-sensitive small developer so I was keen to reduce the scope of the work for the more expensive specialist. We have always used floor levelling before for floating timber floors and its always been fine but I suppose this flooring needs even greater tolerances. Thats great that the floor can be cut up to the skirting. I've agreed to buy the flooring from someone who has 8 unopened boxes left over from a bigger job. If the fitting cost proves too expensive I may have to back out of the sale I suppose. I know Karndean is high-end stuff that might not be worth it for me on this job but I guess I was hoping for someone locally that the job might appeal to. I can pay cash.
You won't get the job done correctly if it's done cheap IMO. It's a specialist flooring product and can't be fitted cheaply. I'd assume fitting would be £400+ but with a site visit and + materials, could be a lot more.
Assuming you had all materials I'd be charging circa £600.00 to do that, plus you'd have to garuentee me a parking space! That area is a **** for parking from what I remember last time I did work round there.
