Been asked to supply and install wood effect safetyfloor to a 30m2 domestic sitting room which is to be a rental property. It is a downstairs solid floor covered in ashpalt which is quite thick, solid and very level. I would assume that it should be primed and then screeded with N.A. before installation, or primed only? Problem is though that in front of the fireplace wall and over the entire 5m length of the room, the owner has chiselled out a 10 cm channel, placed his central heating pipes in, and when I measured, was filling this in with cement. I realise that this has compromised his damp proof membrane which I am sure he is completely unaware of. Would you walk away from this job or would you undertake it after making the customer aware of the possible implications?
