I`ve been having some major agro with my right knee, the past few months, and went for an mri scan this morning. Man, they are seriously noisy ! and very tight for space. Lucky for me, I had my head left just poking outside the machine, but would have hated to have to have fully inside it.
not good when you got to have it proper examined! Keep yer chin up mate, keep us updated on the prognosis
What pads are you using at the moment? Do they help with your knee trouble? Let us all know what's happened with your knee when you get the report. Good luck, hope it's just the weather.. :-?
I've just invested in some of the medical knee pads. My knee swelled up in November for the first time. Picked a little spot on the side of my knee and the swelling got infected...ended up with a red leg for a few days. Luckily it all feels normal now!
Strangely, I started getting twinges when I was away on holiday in July. Then in September I was crawling around on the floor messing about with the dog (not the missus !) when it just went. Went to a&e and they said I needed a month of rest, so were no use really. Gp then sent me for physio, which was also useless. I`ve been referred now and gone private, which saw me have an appointment, 3 x-rays, and a mri today, all within a week. They suspect cartilage damage, which will likely mean an op. I have always used the F-ball pads, with 2 layers of Cloud 9, which have been nice and comfortable, but when this started, I switched to the Alpro ones, which I got from Mario. They take some getting used to, but they have kept me able to work.
i use the alpro ones for hard flooring they are great but i get more lower back pain using them does anyone else? look at the pads this guys got on, 2nd from bottom http://www.nora.com/us/installation-maintenance/how-to-videos/installation-videos/
Got my results yesterday. Not good news really. The cartilage is torn from front to back, and he said in general, my knee is very worn. Key hole op, to shave the cartilage then flush, might give me few more years, but basically he said it was time to slow down. After the op its a min 2 weeks off, then I can gently start back.
Yep, a bit of re evaluation required I think. Charlie is pretty good at most things now, and Elliss, my middle son will be with us too in a few months. I`m thinking of knocking the subbing on the head, and doing our own work only.
Was it just cartilage damage mate? Once you've had the op, it won't ever be the same. I'd really consider not having mine done if I was give the chance again.
The consultant said my knee was in a bit of a mess, in general very worn. There is a tear in the cartilage, which is my main problem. Most days its fairly painful to walk, and working is hard. I don`t think I could carry on as it is. Whats your experience of the op then ? Your not the first, who has said its a bad idea.
Had ruptured collateral ligaments down the inside and outside of my knee, Medial cartilage damage, minuscus damage, snapped my hamstring and ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament. Bit of a job, but it was 5yrs ago, and still plays me up especially when it's cold. If it's painful to walk, then you've not got much choice. I had the choice to leave it and stop playing sport, but didn't want to miss playing footy when my little boy grows up.
