As some of you know, Charlie, my oldest son has worked with me for about 2 years now.
My middle son, Ellis, has been having some major problems at school.
It looks like he will have to come to work with me full time next year, to avoid having to stay in full time education, as the rules have changed now, re gcse`s
So, I thought i`d take him with me this week, to see how he liked it. A nice easy start....

He made an enthusiastic start, then the blisters came ! Still enjoyed it more than school.

Schools keep pushing kids towards academic results as it looks good on the league tables (90% went onto 3rd level education), problem with that is that not all of them are suited for this. How many schools have dropped the crafts like woodwork/metalwork.
The apprenticeship scheme's have been devastated over the the last 15-20 years and now there's a skill shortage which is being filled by others not from the UK.
I.T. is the new paneca but only the top 5% make any real money the rest go onto call centers reading from scripts, with the risk that if a third world country is more attractive they can flick a switch on be gone in days.
Whilst I would always support those kids that want to stay in school its not for all of them especially if the can join the workforce.
