Depends on the tile you are taking up ect but can lead to lots of problems ie are the areas void/ occupied and such - all our current council contracts we have the tiles removed before we turn up - separate contractor -
we keep all our installers up to date with asbestos awareness and such but don't get involved with the take up to much hassle and potential law suits .and not a great price on the take up for them.
    good luck with the tenders

When I did the asbestos awareness course I was told in the case of floor tiles (crunches) they have minimal blue asbestos in them so are considered low risk and as such can be taken up by anyone as long as its done properly, its the disposing of thats the expensive bit apparently, basically flood with water so no dust can come up off them then put a mask on and gloves and get a scraper under them and as best as you can try and take them up whole or as bigger pieces as poss, then all waste must go in the asbestos bags (red if I remember right) and tied up/gaffer taped, then they must be taken to a specialised asbestos disposal unit which is the expensive bit, and don't just skip it if its a little bit ;)

spot on its the dumping of them that cost a lot and we found the price for taking them up along with getting rid of them aint great with the councils so we leave it for another trade .
