no underfloor heating, solid chipboard is screwed but needs latexing through, the other side is quarry tiles. whats the best latex
I'm not too sure what your after but If your screeding on the chipboard your best using something like level flex.
Can't latex direct the chipboard has oils within it that will react withe screed that and it's not stabile enough.
If you go on to level flex website it tells you it can be used over chipboard. I've never had a problem when I've screeded the odd ensuite/bathroom.
I haven't looked on their website but I still wouldn't use it over chip board you risk the chip swelling from the moisture it will take from the screed ? Unless you rapid Dpm the chipboard like they do in Germany Lol (private joke)
i wouldnt use it on chipboard either, compound was supplied to go over chipboard in the competitions in germany a few years back. Bare in mind it was in germany and using german chipboard. Every team had there own methods of preparing with one team putting DPM down first. All looked fine for the first 2 days but on day 3 every teams chipboard joints was showing through really bad. The one with DPM on separated. Problem is it looks fine at first but the chipboard starts to move after a few days. So when you do teh job it might look fine, but when you leave the problems starts.
You shouldn't do a lot of things but don't mean they don't work. My daughters room is Van Gogh on laminate. Been down 5 years now. No problems. A lot more can be done then the bag says. Someone on twitter posted floorboards with a primer type screed then 1200 pro on top. I thought you can't do that. But f.ball said you can. Over the years I've done all sorts the wrong way as had to due to builder an cost. I fitted polysafe on polysafe. Let glue go off an put it down. Will work but not sure how long for last for. My point being unless things are tried no one really knows.
Only done it twice in same house for my own customer and I've done plenty more work there and the floors are absolutely fine. I usually ply an skim anyway as it can be done in a day. But the flooring company I used worked for used to speck it all the time on new builds.
If your talking about what I think you are Fball have made a sort of rapid drying skim coat primer thingy for use on floorboards & chipboard (apparently) before screeding ? Not generally available yet if ever ? I've have done lots of things the wrong way due to builder's wanting to cut corners & from my own daftness in the past ! I stuck some bevelline on top of laminate in a flat I had, it was fine for about a year, but then all the joints in the laminate swelled & shown through. I've not afraid to admit that I've done a lot of things the wrong way in the past & learned some important lessons from my mistakes as we probably all have ? Sometimes there's no problems (that your ever aware of) but then there the times when it bites you in the *rse & the wallet ! If only there was a place where we could asked for & share advice in these matters lol
Maybe we need a thread on the forums so people can post about jobs they have had to do but they no they shouldn't have? Over time could maybe build up a portfolio of what worked and what was a massive no no? If anything it's at least an interesting read!
Ardetx NA mate its a pricey screed but the best screed around, it has flexabilty and is very good not as had as the likes of say ( tremco 302) but is a very good screed it never blows and you dont need to prime! i recommend to everyone wont let you down
Nah, you wrong bud, its 2024 mate not 1980s , you use the flexible latex , prime twice prior latexing and you ready to go! I ve never had any problem , use Arditex NA and thats it. Give it a two coats of primer and as long as the chipboard not damaged and swollen you good. And yes, fill the gaps between the chipboards of course
