Iv not used much of this adisive but done a job with under floor heating so gave it a go stired it well new a2 notch then rolled flat let it go off and laid into it I just thought it did not grab very well touched it with my finger and there's a tack rolled it afterwards is this how this ps is or should there Ov been more grab
I use a standard notch Trowel not sure of the mm on that. Think its 1.5 x 5 but don't quote me and then a medium pile roller. You do use more but sticks better IMO.
F46 does not have massive grab when pulled upwards. Its strength is sideways movement. If you think about it, the flooring is not trying to move upwards but sideways. So the adhesive is actually doing what you want it to do, however can be disbelieving how good it is when pulling upwards on it. However, i find F46 could do with being a little more tacky. It is fine when warm but in colder weather its a little weak for my liking. Mapei also do a PS very similar to F46. The mapei adhesive has more grab. I find it a lot better in the winter but actually to strong in the summer. guess you cant have 1 adhesive doing both tho. So Mapei for winter and F46 for summer ! (not that we get a summer)
when we get the ceramic course sorted remind me on the course and i will show you the mapei product. Saying that, they do a demo with it sticking ceramics to it on a wall to show you how good it is. (not that you would use it to stick ceramics)
Mapei say to use there HT adhesive. I know the PS is fine but they say HT as that is one of the reasons why it was developed. Mapei like to stick with recommending products that was developed for certain applications either tho they have plenty of other products that can do teh job.
Do ppl really use this with underfloor heating. I used it on one job and when I went back the next day to do a different room a few of planks had tented. I always use the high temp glues for underfloor. This was on a givlon floor?? Calcium sulphate it was ( think that's how it's spelt) which I was told is much better at heat retention. Could it be the floor was to warm for this?
Fballs HT / Karndeans HT etc is not recommended over underfloor heating. They say to use PS adhesive over underfloor heating. Tenting is caused by to much heat change. Possible the product was to cold when you installed it A few reasons why you can get tenting
It was left on site in the room for 4 days with the underfloor heating off for 48hrs. Karndean Always tell us to only use high temp for underlie heating. Using pressure sensitive would make life much easier I hate dry fitting
Yer I checked the fball book the other day and on the f46 tub. That's where it mentioned it was fine for underfloor heating. The karndean FAQ on there website says the high temp for underfloor heating. We had a complaint a while ago and karndean wouldn't do anything due to pressure sensitive adhesive being used. Was an area I front of south facing patio doors. They told me on the karndean course (basic) to use high temp in any area recidving direct sunlight. Even windows. Buts that just impractical. I wonder where we stand on a job if you use fball pressure with karndean but suffer tenting. I guess karndean say the glues failed And fball say it wasn't acclimatised. I'm gonna give it another go. Have you used it on a gyvlon/ anyhydrite floor. I noticed the fball tub said normal underfloor heating, but this floor was warmer than any other I've felt.
The prob is that when using Karndean or Amtico you should use their own glues and do by the book incase there is a problem.
and when you do ...it's oh fitter error or not stored correctly... not had any probs myself... always use ps unless customer have supplied it..
If there is a complaint on a product that has was not caused by using another product (so adhesive in this case) then the warranty is still valid. You require the services of someone like Sid Bourne tho to do a independent inspection and put it writing what the fault is. As you say the underfloor heating felt warmer than normal, well sounds like that is the issue. You need to always take temperature readings and record them in case of a complaint.
i can second that, last year when it was bloody hot was on course with floorskills using mapei's was miles too strong could have stuck me to it and i'd never have got off the floor. mapei's when it's cold f46 when it's hot or uzins KE 2000S all year round.
