Has anyone ever put 700 on top of 4mm?? I've got 2 upstairs hairdressers to do soon and the floorboards are trashed, rather than struggle with 9mm up the stairs I was thinking of smacking down 4mm and then 700 on top??
Should be ok Steve as long as you fix it down well. What's the subfloor. Cost a bit though using 700 on it.
Have you tried level flex? About half the price of 700, used it a few times. Seems an ok product. What flooring is going on top?
The place where I work uses level flex and fine flow, the guys who fit the wood get through shed loads of it,I have only used it a few times and it seems ok. But I ain't no expert on screed
Isn't there a possibility of the screed delaminating the ply ? I'd make sure all the joints are feathered before laying the screed
I wouldn't have thought so if you know your ply is good stuff and pinned down well, I sometimes end up pinning every 50mm on the joints. Make sure you prime and seal it before the screed should do the trick.
What do you seal it with Steve? Never done that before. Also never feathered the joints before using a wood screed. Never seen the need too
Touch wood, I've never had any come backs with my ply jobs, I always sand down the Feather Finish with a Bosch sander afterwards. I just think think this particular job would be a lot easier using this method. It's has one of those staircases where you smack your head on the way up so imagine trying to get 9mm sheets up there. By the time you cut them all down and prep it afterwards, it would be easier (but more expensive I know) to bend 4mm sheets up the staircase, pin it down and mix up a few bags of fibre. I'll make sure I've got a labourer that job!
Had that prob before mate, I got the ply cut down in half 2ft x 8ft. The builder yard did it for free. More joints in the ply though but it was a couple of bedrooms so you could hardly see much of the finished floor.
