Hi chaps, went to look at a job today, they had a quickstep laminate installed approx 10 months ago, and it has started to come apart on the end joints in quite a few places. Shouldnt be a moisture problem as apparantly the floor has been installed on top of a vinyl, expansion gaps look ok everywhere, it is a hallway at the front of the house, kitchen diner at back, connected by a single doorway and the laminate is running through in one, which seems ok to me as quickstep installation guide states your can go up to 13m on the length or width before needing added expansion, by means of extra thresholds. Gaps in both areas. Any ideas!
whats the subfloor run out like? Quickstep does tend to unclick on headers if the subfloor is uneven. (not within guidelines)
Looked ok -she said she had what sounded like a safety floor underneath it, so presumebly had been screeded, and certainly could see/feel any obvious uneveness
its hard to say when there is laminate fitted as it masks the subfloor. this would be my first guess anyway. If the subfloor is not at fault then it could be fitting damage to product or a product fault.
Nor have i! thats why im leaning towards a product fault, surely if anything else it would be a more common problem
I once fitted Q/s 800 which seemed like it had to much wax in the joints and kept gapping easy whilst fitting (by hand, no tapping blocks) also had the same problem with some witex laminates
