Started a job today and its been a nighmare day. The painter was mean't to uplift old flooring and clear out. There is a skip on site. walked into this. Carpet still stuck in middle, filled with wallpaper. Hardboard still down.
So after taking out loads of nails got my weird helper to help ply it, had to make the little fella a guide......
Then got to the entrance- Carpet stuck to vinyl tiles stuck to screed stuck to a like slate tile. There is a basement so shouldnt need to worry about a dpm should I? Told them they need a new subfloor buts its a no go so patch screed repair then forbo jumpax system or mfor one. depends what I can get monday.
looks a nightmare of a prep! Good to have a bit of a challenge now and again , keeps the brain ticking. Who was your weired mate Daz!!?
My weird mate is just someone giving me a hand. Useless git though. Like having a kid with me. Did a test with the measure mode on my mms which was at risk. Around the 200 mark. They want me to ply straight over the lot but said no. So going to use the jumpax or similar. Have to see what I can get Monday. The floor boards looked damp in places but were dry as a bone.
what was there MC ? Also Daz because it has a basement doesn't mean it wont have damp. Most places with a basement will have damp issues.
It is John, coil nailer. From spotnails, takes 19mm, 22mm, 25mm and upwards nails. Good compressor they do too
Yes the air below normally has a high RH and this can effect the floor above it. Also with concrete floors suspended above a basement if the dpc/dpm is bridged on the outside or more likely does not exist they will still have damp. Even tho it has a void below you need to look at the ground level outside in relevance to the subfloor. So if outside ground level is similar to inside floor level then there is every chance that it may still be direct to earth somewhere. Dont forget that water can travel upwards (capillary) so sideways movement is is a very easy task for moister.
Daz - What is the model of the gun you are using? Where did you get it from? Did you get the compressor from there too? Are there any others anyone else would recommend?
