I have a job to do soon which is a shower capped and coved.
I need to uplift the old vinyl and replace with new.
The problem is the trap is the wrong type so need to change it to a vinyl sheet type.
Has anyone done this? Do I need to take the shower trap up to do it? Shall I get a plumber?

Here is what I need -

The trap should have already been put in place from a plumber prior to you doing the flooring mate . I wouldnt mess around with traps and drains. you dont want any liabillity for any water damage.

The trap thats down is like a ceramic metal one stuck with silicone. Like this

, the polysafe is bubbling around the trap and there is silicone around it which is worn away.
The floors been down a year. I told them the wrong trap is down and needs changing.

Another thing is water can cause a lot of expensive damage and I'm guessing your insurance won't cover plumbing work.

That looks like it goes into a tray not subfloor

I agree with vman. The trap should be done by a plumber to ensure it is placed correctly. You don't want to have leaks in your bathroom trap as it can damage your flooring.
