Finished my screed this morning and straight back into the man den to chop this lot up. 3.5inch x 15inch Parquet Camaro boat house oak. Fitting it nextweek so will update with installed pics. Need to get a bench set up for this guillotine, back feels likes its been through 200m2 of an F3 carpet tile rip out Pics to follow
I thought you were going to do that over Christmas lol,i know what you mean about your back, i started off doing it on the floor, but soon realised it would be a lot more comfortable, sat at a bench, just need to make something to fit the 30inch, as it's too bulky to sit on the benches I'm using
I’ve chopped a few down before mate but not for a while. To busy at the mo so I just tell people to order ready made. Once I start doing more at the shop I’ll start pushing it more. How’s the gilly. Looks great that one.
That was the plan until the mrs would break her wine out, did manage to do the opus one for my bathroom though over Xmas but still havnt fitted it because she's decided she quite likes the old victorian stuff now Ive had a few delays on carpets so clearing some room tomorrow after work and figuring out some sort of bench for it.
Yeah it does take alot of your time dont it. Loving the gilly so far but only negative about it so far is the setting bar could have been better supported when mounted, it could have done with an extra center pin mount or some sort to secure it better, Its easy to put too much tension on it resulting in a slight over cut from it bowing. I just got to be a bit less heavy handed I guess. Its a good solid bit if kit though. Well worth the £650.
If you double sided tape a tile to the gilly, setting it off the side bar, that will give you something more solid to work against and also make it a bit easier to grip smaller pieces
Plus, if you cut the tile 3 1/2 inches short of the gilly width, you could have 2 different settings at the same time, for both your cuts
