Is this expected performance of installed LVT (quickstep livyn pulse click) ?

    Hi All.

    We have recently had the above floating LVT installed as part of a wider building project (ground floor refurb) which included the installation of UFH.

    I am increasingly concerned that the installation was not done properly, but before I go back to the contractor (builder - install by sub-contractor) I want to confirm what I should expect as the builder has since commented "I'm not sure these floors are as good as they make out" (which he would) and I of course wish to be able to challenge this and get things resolved.

    Below are snapshots from a video of how certain parts of the floor are "squidgy": (this is after the UFH has been turned on for a while)

    (I am unable to link to an actual video as I am a new member, and I can't upload a video either. Hopefully it's clear enough).

    Is this normal performance and, if not, what would you expect the typical causes to be? It does seem like the floor gets more "squidgy" when the UFH is turned on, also there is still some residual impact several hours later.

    Thank you. That at least explains it, though it does mean I'm nowhere nearer to resolving whether the LVT should behave as it is in the pictures/video. Thank you anyway.

    What temperature is the floor surface when the UFH is on ?
    It's needs to be 27 degrees maximum

    I’m guessing it’s a new subfloor? Was it dry?

    It's over 27. And, yes I am aware of the maximum. I have an IR heat sensor and I've just checked another UFH zone which is currently on, using the same flooring and its 35 deg.

    Note: this is after the plumber has commissioned and stated that everything is fine now.

    Before this period things were operating only for a very short period of time, at around 20 deg higher.

    The outlet temperature from the manifold is now at the minimum of 40 degrees. Is there a way to further control/lower the outlet temperature going to the vinyl zones only? The other zones are screed.

    Is this what the flow rates are for?

    You guess correctly. It was I think an aluminium overfloor with ultra level it two self levelling compound on top. This was left to dry for 48 hours but not dried using under floor heating.

    I don't rate LVT click full stop never mind over UFH
    I'd never recommend a loose lay click LVT over UFH

    Thank you. Are you able to elaborate. Are you saying that the behaviour we are seeing is expected and that we simply given a bad recommendation (by our builder's provider)?

    Click can be used over low temperature UFH but hot water pipe systems can get very hot so using a product that expands and contracts with temperature that's not fully stuck to the surface isn't really a good idea
