What' are people using these days.... Currently got a t5 bout 10 years old brilliant for the fold down seat . Anyone seen the new citroën dispatch looks quite nice?
I've got a long wheel Base relay (l3). Had it for about 5 years. Was thinking about getting a medium wheelbase but they are only about 3m in the back so would be a bit of a pain for carpets, would probably need the bulk head out.
I have no bulkhead with mine can get few on dash . Spoke to a few guys they just have vivaro or transit and use roof racks with rollers and swear buy them.....
I`ve had a Vivaro, bought on an ex demo. Just clicked over 80k, no problems with it at all, and its really good on fuel. Also run a Crafter, also an ex demo. Not good on fuel but nice to drive. Ive not had that long enough to comment on reliability yet. I was looking to chop the Vivaro for a crew van, as there are normally 5 of us in a van, but i`ve heard they tax them as a company car, so big bik tax.
Currently got a mwb movano. Centre seat folds. Can also get one under the middle seat. Big van. Economy ok but not great. Probably go the vivaro route next time as I mainly do hard floors now. May go for a test drive of the peugeot expert Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Ive got the transit custom lwb, had to loosely fold some of my carpets as hanging them out the back door when its raining can be a bit embarrassing! Looking to get a T5 though soon, fancy a change BUT will never ever entertain the new vivaro currently got one on hire and it has to be the most uncomfortable van ive drove and the quality compared to my ford is shocking. Ford have defo uped their game the past several yrs. Older shape vivaro/trafic fine but new shape is fooookin-shit
Always had vans with roofracks (rhino) with rollers and so easy loading and unloading off the roof. Custom still hasnt got a roofrack and wont be bothering either, if bulkhead was out the custom there is a way of loading the rolls in the van with a passenger single seat up front. Seen it done recently actually
How are Customs on diesel ? A mate had one, and got rid of it in the end, as it was awful on fuel. A guy who works with me had one as a hire van too, but said it was shite compared to his Transporter. Don`t think I could trust the 1.6 engine in the new Vivaro, just too small for a commercial.
Yeah Neil the custom is quite poor on diesel to be honest, only downside to it really! The new transporters drive a load better than the previous model, not such a noisy cabin anymore so will get one of them next. Neoghbour has just bought a new trafic bi-turbo and it shifts but not as you think with 2 turbos. Hes currently getting average 36mpg whereas my thirsty custom is averaging 27mpg
I'm in talks with Vanarama at the moment trying to get a deal on a transit custom lwb. While they offer different options., it's down to what suits the user.
Custom lwb 125bhp 290 limited Love it I'm getting 30mpg round the Doors even more blasting up and down the country And I'm heavy footed and normaly carry alot weight Definitely not filling up as much as my last transit
I think all vans should come with access flap on the rear doors, sort of like barn doors so we can still shut the door with just the carpet sticking out
I've got mk7 transit lwb econamy remapped to about 160 I'm probably half loaded most times got str 701 ,transformers, rollers and materials and still get 38 mpg + driving round town most I've got out of it is 43 mpg taking it steady, it's got 250,000 on clock new engine at 150,000 if I we're travelling around the country I'd hate to bein a sprinter! I've got an old golf mk4 tdi that can do 70 mpg also remapped
Ive taken bulk head out of mine, andun bolt the seats each time if I'm doing carpets only takes 2 minutes, it is a lot louder with the bulkhead out though
I use a good mate with his large company vans if it's 5m width, does anything for a drink. Been getting my carpets delivered lately, 9am deliveries from the same guy who likes a drink
That's handy! How many 4 m cuts can you get in the transit then, is it just the middle passenger seat that folds down or do both of them. I spose a roof rack with a roller is always an option if you have more cuts
