Had a look at a job today and they have what they call a 'wet underfloor' heating system. Pipes are roughly spaced out roughly 5 inch apart with the 18mm thermal boards between the pipes. Its not been screeded yet and the pipes are visible and flush with thermal boards but was thinking of flowing the whole lot with stopgap 700 but question is what depth? Im sayng 12mm minimum but customer said he was told by the manufacturers that a 6mm flexy screed will be enough. What do you gurus reckon? Or other screeds you recommend?
I`ve got wet underfloor in my house, with a 50mm poured screed. Thats the kind of thickness I normally see in new builds too. I guess ask the manufacturer what they recommend.
Is it Nu-heat? If it is they don't have to be buried under screed like electric matting. The last few we have done have been really unevenly laid so defo want some sort of screed over it. If it is nu-heat the boards are gypsum so may want to look at a gypsum based levelling compound Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cheers neil. Yeah ill be doing some digging before I take this on as the guy is already so fussy but ive been told so far that the norm should be 30mm min so its 'scratch head' at the min!
