Hidden asbestos

    I had to cut a door at a school last week, half way through I realised it had a white panel on all painted in and impossible to see even from the bottom of the door until I started to cut it! Surely that's illegal? I'm thinking of sacking off cutting doors from now on...at least fire doors anyway.

    Should be in the asbestos register if thats what it is.

    Has anyone came across old solid sit on skirting that's very brittle & looks a similar composition to old asbestos council tiles ? Seen a few lately & they ring alarm bells ???

    Isnt that to do with age and multiple coats of floor polish over the years?

    No mate its defo solid skirts first time I came across it was in an old house in a cupboard with marly tiles down

    Id proceed with caution with them then, hose em down with water and wear a mask just in case, you can check when you rip it out if a fragment has the fibres running through it.
